Last week I had a shoot on the set of the new short film “Brommer op Zee”, directed by Diede van Vree. He asked me to be there at the shoot to capture the crew and to make some nice shots for the promotional flyer and poster of the film. Two hot days on a ship (you can have worse) and a busy crew working around you. It was pretty hard to adjust my camera to the strong sun and razor-edge shadows. In the end I’m glad with the shoot I did and I am sure there is some useful footage that Diede can use for his film.

It has been snowing for a couple of days now, but it didn’t stop me from doing a shoot in the middle of nowhere. While the drive was long and slippery, I could still enjoy the glistening snow-covered fields and frozen river called the Lek, who offers calmly a resting place for the remaining ducks. You can call this scene a peaceful portrait, mostly hanging in the form of a painting over many Dutch mantelshelves. It is an honor to be on this serene spot to capture a special memory for a family, gathered together to share the joy of being as one. Yes, this needs to be remembered, that no one will ever forget this wonderful white day in the Netherlands.

This has been one of my favorite photography reports so far, being on a filmset and watch the crew working as a team to fulfil their jobs: making a movie. I have been there though the whole process: from practicing the script with the actors untill the final postproduction and sounddesign. For the ones who are not familiar with the 48 Hour Filmproject, it is an event organized by the Dutch Film Festival (www.nff.nl) which takes place in Utrecht every year. Young filmmakers get the chance to create a film in just 48 hours, that’s a lot of work in just little time! My friend Tom, the director of ‘Onder Water’, asked me to take pictures as a making of and to be published with an article in the magazine Digital Movies. The movie won first price and and the magazine used 8 of my photo’s in their article.

This has been te most beautiful wedding I have even seen in my life. She was adorable, dressed in a pretty black and white gown, her chest draped in lace fabric with a wide skirt underneath. And he was totally a man, her man to be. The wedding gave me enough inspiration, different from any other I have seen. They will live happily untill death do them part, I am sure.
